Nine members of Kettle Bridge Concertinas played a set of six varied pieces at the "Scones and Songs" charitable event held at SS Peter and Paul Church, Yalding on Sunday 28th August. Tunes included Try a Little Tenderness, Trumpet Voluntary and Early One Morning. The music was very well received by the audience, resulting in an encore and we were able to oblige with Moon River! We were also more than happy to chat afterwards to members of the audience who wished to learn more about the concertinas.
In addition to Kettle Bridge Concertinas, other local musical groups performed during the afternoon - Yalding’s Village Voices, Childe Roland, the Relative Minors Orchestra and Yalding’s Church choir; there really was something for everyone to enjoy. Also on offer was a splendid array of scones, cakes and tea.
This event raised money for local charity, School Gambia, which has not only built a ten-classroom school of excellence but also provides ongoing educational support and training for over 550 pupils in the village of Farato. A remarkable charity!
