Weald Trefoil Guild AGM
AGMs can be really boring, so what is the best way to make them more enjoyable? The obvious answer is to invite Kettle Bridge Concertinas to come along and play, of course! This is exactly what the Weald Trefoil Guild did.
After a brief introduction from Sue, we played plenty of lovely tunes, some of which featured enthusiastic audience participation. We then provided an opportunity for anyone to have a go. Entertainment and education — what more could you ask for on a sunny Saturday morning?

Let’s be honest, music theory can be a bit dry but if you are interested in understanding more about scales and keys, there is a very informative video available on YouTube all about the Circle of Fifths.
The Concertina Tinker
Dave Elliott is an associate member of Kettle Bridge Concertinas and a thoroughly useful chap to know. He is an experienced repairer and restorer of traditionally constructed concertinas of all types — large bass through to piccolo — as well as miniature instruments, and all fingering systems.
He is very happy to provide individual advice, event clinics, or group workshops and is the author of 'The Concertina Maintenance Manual'.

Village Band Day
The 2026 Village Band Day will be held at Cumnor Village Hall, Leys Rd, Cumnor, Oxford OX2 9QF and led by Dave Townsend.
This is a day of workshops, playing traditional tunes in parts arranged in the style of the local bands found all over rural England in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It is for players of any string, wind, brass or free reed instruments. It will involve playing from music, so reasonable reading ability is needed.

Swaledale Squeeze
"A convivial weekend of concertina playing in the picturesque setting of the Yorkshire Dales."
The Swaledale Squeeze weekend workshop will be held, as usual, at Grinton Lodge Youth Hostel near Reeth, Richmond, North Yorkshire.

The SqueezEast Concertina Band Day has been booked for 14th June at the Stilton Pavilion, which is located about 7 miles south of Peterborough.

Banding Together
J25 Concertina Band are holding their annual workshop at Halsway Manor, Halsway Lane, near Crowcombe, Somerset, TA4 4BD. It is aimed at advanced and fluent players who enjoy band playing.
